As a vibrant place of worship, St. Nicholas Church is steeped in history, having been founded in 1866 to serve the German Catholic families settling in the East Williamsburg area. This church is one of three unique communities that form the Divine Mercy Parish, established by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio in 2011. The Divine Mercy Parish is a harmonious merger of St. Nicholas, St. Cecilia’s Church, and St. Francis of Paola, each with its own rich heritage and contribution to the Williamsburg/Greenpoint neighborhoods.
