River-to-Ridge Trail
The River-to-Ridge Trail is a new project by the Open Space Institute located at 41 Springtown Road in New Paltz, New York. This trail will connect the Village of New Paltz and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to the Mohonk Preserve, providing safe and scenic access to the Shawangunk Ridge. The trail will also create a six-mile loop through farm fields and gently rolling hills, connecting to the restored Victorian-era carriage roads of the Shawangunk Ridge. Through lead support from the Butler Conservation Fund, the River-to-Ridge Trail and carriage road restoration projects aim to deepen the public's connection with the stunning landscapes of the Shawangunk Ridge. Once completed, the trail network will span 116 miles, offering world-class recreational opportunities and connecting the region's main population centers.
