Komodo Dragons, Bronx Zoo
The Komodo Dragons exhibit at the Bronx Zoo in New York, United States, features two of the zoo's largest reptile species - Komodo dragons and giant Aldabra tortoises. In addition to their impressive size, Aldabra tortoises are known to live for over 200 years, while Komodo dragons are the largest living species of lizard in the world. The zoo also showcases two rhino species, with southern white rhinos at Zoo Center and Indian rhinos at the Wild Asia Monorail. The illegal poaching of rhinos for their horns is a major threat to these animals. Adult male rhinos can reach up to nine feet in length and weigh 360 pounds, with horns made entirely of keratin. Aldabra tortoises are one of only two remaining species of giant tortoises. Visitors can become WCS Members to enjoy a year of adventure at the Bronx Zoo and other affiliated zoos. Don't miss the opportunity to book a Wild Encounter for a personal meeting with your favorite animals and their keepers. For real-time information and an interactive map of the zoo, visit bronxzoo.com/today on your smartphone. Take advantage of the Last Chance Sale to save $10 on registration for the Run for the Wild event with the code RFTWSALE. Offer expires on 4/13/24 and applies to specific registration categories.
