As the oldest African-American congregation on Long Island, Bethel Copiague is a Kingdom-Focused, Kingdom-Driven church, guided by the Holy Spirit and dedicated to serving as Christ’s ambassadors.

Our Mission and Beliefs

At Bethel A.M.E., we believe in the transformative power of God's Word and strive to embody the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to grow in faith and actively contribute to our community. We echo the call from 2 Corinthians 5:20: "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God."

Our Leader: Rev. Keith Hayward

Rev. Keith Hayward, an esteemed pastor and community leader, has been guiding our congregation since January 20, 2012. With a robust educational background and a passion for teaching, Rev. Hayward has fostered numerous initiatives, including educational partnerships with S.U.N.Y. Farmingdale and S.U.N.Y. Empire College, as well as community programs like the Fatherhood Initiative and health seminars.

Rev. Hayward's leadership has not only resulted in the phenomenal growth of our church but also in significant community development projects, such as affordable housing and employment opportunities. His dedication to education is evident in the establishment of one of the largest Senior Bible Study programs in Suffolk County, providing spiritual nourishment and fellowship for seniors.
