Hudson Valley OBGYN

"I visited Hudson Valley OBGYN in Jan 2024 for my annual exam with Dr. Safajou. I have been coming to this office for a few years (5 or so?) because Dr. Safajou is just fine. However, I will not be returning. In my experience, the office is managed incredibly poorly. 1. Every year that I have come to this office, I have had to wait for more than an hour in the waiting room.. This year, I waited *1.25 hours in the waiting room*, then another ~20 minutes or so in the exam room. I remember last year (2023), when I actually thought I had been forgotten, because it was the end of the day, and while waiting in the exam room (in paper gown!) I couldn't hear any sounds at all. I wondered if everyone had gone home for the day. THAT is how long I had to wait! Again, this has been the trend for every one of the few years I've been to this office, so it's not as if they are just extra busy some days. Question: when they are running more than 30 minutes behind, couldn't the receptionist call the next few patients to let them know? By the way, this year I had a morning appointment (last year 2023 was a late afternoon appointment). So time of day does not seem to be a factor. 2. The receptionist I encountered is inconsiderate, at best. When I arrived, the glass divider at the desk was open about 3 inches. She sat behind it, speaking softly. I asked her to speak up, she did (just a bit), but I had to ask her repeatedly (and she acted aggrieved). The worst part is that she had a mini speaker sitting in the 3 inch space between us, playing music. Full disclosure: my hearing is only okay, not great, however- in the course of my 1.25 hour wait, I observed several other patients asking the receptionist to speak up! I had actually turned the speaker down, but I noticed she turned it right back up when I sat down. To sum up, that office could be managed a lot better. I like Dr. S just fine, but unless you have an incredibly flexible schedule and infinite patience, I'd recommend another OB/GYN."
