A proud alumna of Stony Brook University, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and has remained a vital part of the Stony Brook healthcare community throughout her career, with the exception of a residency year at New York Medical College. Dr. Welischar is known for her compassionate approach, fostering long-standing, friendly relationships with her patients to ensure they feel comfortable and cared for. Her expertise spans a range of specialized services, including laparoscopic hysterectomy, surgical procedures, treatment of stress incontinence, and adolescent gynecology. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, contributing to the education and training of future healthcare professionals.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice, having earned her medical degree from the prestigious Yale School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University-NewYork Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Halfon's commitment to advancing women's health is evident through her global health fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, where she lived in Rwanda to research maternal mortality related to cesarean section infections. Her significant contributions to the field have been recognized at national scientific conferences, including presentations at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
