"Dr. Schnell is always thorough, caring and professional. He guided me through a torn labrum years ago, replaced both my hips 7 years ago when they were bone-on-bone. I was released from all restrictions at about 5 weeks, and was coaching Olympic Developmental field hockey a week later. The old pain was gone, I resumed most of my activities (except martial arts and running—which was my choice), and I was able to get my life back (gardening, working out, walking the dogs, etc.). Right before my surgery, I could barely get through a trip to the grocery store towards the end or carry a box. I was always very active and never dreamed I would have the surgery that my mom had in her 70’s before my kids were even out of college. But Dr. Schnell helped me accept it was necessary and life would get better. Before my recovery, I would not have imagined I would be pushing sleds in the gym or hiking in Acadia with my son. Recently, Dr. Schnell has been extremely responsive and reassuring in helping me deal with a subsequent injury that will require one more surgery. I trust his experience and judgement, have referred many people to him, and will continue to do so. Lastly, he treated my son through a couple of sports injuries, including an avulsion fracture and two femoral neck stress fractures. Just a couple years later, my son was doing Crew in college, and developed into an elite obstacle course runner who has competed in five World OCR Championships in London, Canada and the U.S. My son easily could have given up running after such a significant setback, but instead came back stronger than ever. I credit that to Dr. Schnell’s careful monitoring of the healing process, which was not quick, and keeping my son positive and looking forward. I would definitely recommend anyone to him that is in need of hip replacement surgery! Oh and I was up and walking the same day and have been walking ever since with very little pain!!
