The Perinatal Health Equity Initiative is a clothing store and health store located at 280 South Harrison Street in East Orange, New Jersey. Our mission is to support Black mamas during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum to ensure they flourish and thrive. We are dedicated to eliminating inequities in Black infant and maternal health, as Black women in New Jersey are 7-8 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications. Our programs are designed by and for Black women, aiming to restore joy and prevent maternal deaths. Our staff includes IBCLCs and CBS to provide breastfeeding and lactation support, as well as services for preeclampsia and trauma-free births.
