"(See original review below) Addendum: Dr Obaid performed my colon surgery on June 16, 2021. My biggest fear was that I'd need a colostomy, possibly temporary but it seemed pretty definite. I pleaded with Dr. Obaid to do all he could to avoid the colostomy. As I came to in the recovery room, the first thing I did was to feel around my abdomen. I didn't feel any ostomy. I asked the nurse: no colostomy! I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Obaid. He was appropriately compassionate yet professional and direct. I would have found a way to deal with the colostomy if necessary but I'm forever grateful I didn't need to. He removed the damaged portion of my colon and resected it and closed the opening in my bladder. And he did it all using laparoscopic methods. I am so glad I switched from Virtua to Jefferson. Original review follows: I've been dealing with serious issues requiring surgery after resulting in blood infections. Though I'd planned to go with another surgeon, after a stay at Jefferson Stratford, I decided to go with Jefferson doctors. Even though it was last minute, the scheduler got me in almost immediately. Dr. Obaid was caring while remaining professional. He was honest and direct and made sure I understood what was really going on.I have the utmost confidence. I cannot say enough positive things about the office staff, especially Dana. She walked me through the disability process and answered my incessant phone calls and emails patiently. I've heard so many nightmare stories about how people's important paperwork fell through the cracks or was returned late that I was naturally worried. Dana constantly reassured me and sent me copies of everything she sent to my insurance company. When one is seriously ill, the last thing he wants to focus on is paperwork. Dana took that weight off my neck. She may say "just doing my job" but to me it was far beyond"
