e May MAC took on the task of restoring and operating the lighthouse as a historic site. Since opening to the public in 1988, the Cape May Lighthouse has welcomed over 2.5 million visitors who have climbed to the top to enjoy the stunning views. Visitors to the Cape May Lighthouse can explore the grounds, climb to the top of the tower, and learn about the history of the lighthouse and the surrounding area through interpretive panels. The Oil House on the grounds houses a Visitors' Orientation Center and Museum Shop where guests can purchase souvenirs and learn more about the lighthouse.
