Marshall House

This Federal brick structure, built in 1816 by Philip Marshall, is the boyhood home of James Wilson Marshall, the discoverer of gold in California in 1848. Originally situated on a large property that included a brick kitchen, wagon shop, and barn, the Marshall House has a rich history that dates back to one of the oldest families in New Jersey. The house was saved from demolition in 1968 and is now maintained by the Lambertville Historical Society, which showcases exhibits related to the life of James Wilson Marshall and the history of Lambertville.
