Van Ness House
Van Ness House, located at 236 Little Falls Road in Fairfield, New Jersey, is a historic property dating back to the early 18th century. The Friends of Van Ness House, a Federal 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to saving and restoring this important piece of local history. The house was built by one of the first Dutch families to settle in Western Essex County and has been recognized as one of the 10 most endangered historic places in New Jersey. The organization recently held a successful fundraiser to help start significant exterior repairs and secure funding for the eventual purchase of the property from Fairfield Township. With their new official tax-exempt status, the Friends of Van Ness House are now able to apply for grants and accept donations towards the restoration and upkeep of the structure. Individuals interested in supporting this endeavor can make contributions to the organization and help preserve this valuable piece of New Jersey's history.
