Founded in 1860, the institution was established by a group of local residents with a passion for studying the history and natural sciences of Burlington County. In August of 2013, the County of Burlington purchased the historic Langstaff Mansion, which was previously home to the Mount Holly Library. The mansion was transformed into the county's first general history museum, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich historical heritage of Burlington County.
