Cox Hall Creek WMA
Cox Hall Creek WMA, located at 5 Shawmont Avenue in Lower Township, New Jersey, is a former golf course that has been transformed into a park and tourist attraction. Managed by the Green Acres Program, the site is now dedicated to wildlife and outdoor recreation. The old paved cart paths make it easy for local residents to explore the area, which includes the "Backyard Habitat Demonstration Site" where over 2,700 native species have been planted. This site showcases different habitat treatments that homeowners can use to attract wildlife to their own backyards. With features such as forested habitat, scrub-shrub, wildflower meadow, nectar producing plants, and a brush pile, visitors can learn how to enhance their own habitats for wildlife. The site was designed by landscape designer Jeanne Marcucci and is maintained with the help of volunteers. Cox Hall Creek WMA is a valuable resource for wildlife habitat restoration in Cape May County and offers opportunities for community involvement in conservation efforts.
