"Kelton Gutter Services was recently bought by Ned Stevens and we have not been particularly happy with the level of service. We had chosen Keltom several years ago because they were the only company we could find that would clean the gutters by hand and rinse out any remaining debris - no leaf blowers!! They would also bag the leaves and debris and take them away. In contrast, Ned Stevens uses a leaf blower to remove the leaves and debris, and they don't take the bags of leaves and debris, instead leaving them for us to dispose of, which is an issue as the town doesn't pick up yard waste during the winter months. The leaf blowers Ned Stevens uses have removed the leaf strainers that we had purchased when Keltom had installed new gutters for our home several years ago. We really like the leaf strainers as they protect the underground drainage system our house and several neighbors have due to water drainage and flooding issues in our area. There's no sense in getting these when leaf blowers are used for cleaning as they just disappear during a cleaning. I've complained to Ned Stevens about both the leaf blowers and leaving the bags of leaves and debris - they kept the same pricing we had with Keltom, but in my opinion the service is certainly less than what we used to pay for. We've started looking around for another company for gutter cleaning but haven't found one yet. If anyone has a recommendation we would appreciate it."
"We had new gutter installed by Keltom Gutter Service via Ned Stevens company. The crew showed up on time and finished the job with good quality. They were also very responsive with our specific requests on guiding the water away from the sidings. Highly recommend."
"I have a x3s/yr contract with Ned Stevens now (good customer or fool?). Ned Stevens took over Keltom and immediately the customer service problems began with overcharging and not honoring the Keltom contracted price. Next, my underground drain clogged a few feet from the downspout even though my special gutter guards and 3xs regularly scheduled cleaning should keep them clear. After 3 separate visits about the same clog (one "appointment" was specifically to snake it - but they "did not bring/have a snake on the truck.") they confirmed they don't do that as part of my gutter service plan. To save hundreds off their quote to snake, they agreed to handle with a 12 ft bypass (clog was easy to reach with snake, plus it connects to a 2nd driveway drain 15ft away, but this solution would avoid future clogs there). Communication up to this stage was ridiculously poor and literally lasted months- (2.3 of the visits were by crews without ANY members who could speak ANY English to relay concerns)even though they took pictures of the issue that remained , they somehow were happy to bill for "completed" services each time, unless I called them. Finally we agreed to a fix: They would charge $203 to do a "bypass" & add 1 elbow and one 12-15ft length of drain pipe (priced at Lowes for under $45) but after the elbow was added they left my old drain pipe open at ground level - not capped, therefore, not bypassed and now water, dirt leaves, chipmunks, etc. would go right into the opening if it rained again. I was told by install crew (1st one who spoke English) & later CS, that they just don't stock the caps, but not to worry because for $203 I got all "custom-made", "highest quality" guaranteed, aluminum drain pipes versus the "low-quality" junk I could buy on my own at the home store -- But they stated although everything is custom quality & professional by Ned Stevens, they can't possibly make caps for std 3" pipes because they are PVC, nor can they just buy anything they might need ahead of time for the job (a complete job done correctly and fully) that they don't keep in stock, & they don't buy stuff like a contractor would do for their jobs (that's the actual excuse for doing 1/2 the job folks). He agreed that gutter and drain cleaning, and the parts and pieces a residential home uses for such drainage is not "rocket science" but they won't complete the simple job correctly by capping the pipe they now left open and exposed (excuse - "because they don't stock the part" I would need & don't buy what what they need if they can't make it from aluminum sheets) so, I had to go to Lowes anyway to buy $10 more in drain parts & install it myself. I only agreed to pay them to handle the job so I wouldn't have to go out and buy stuff & do it myself. I should have saved myself $150 and done the whole job myself. It would have been easier and many MONTHS faster. I thought that's why I was paying the experts in gutter cleaning for a 3Xs annual service contract - so I don't have to handle this stuff myself. They wasted several months of time while every rain there was ponding on that corner of my house, probably damaging my foundation, and this went on for over two of the rainiest months of the year. This is the third ridiculous service & communication circus I have had to deal with since they forced themselves on me by buying out Keltom Gutter Service, which was an attentive, family-owned business that always did what they said, with no double-talk, sales lines about custom quality, or ridiculous excuses. Keltom crews also were able to communicate with me (English) while on site about issues discovered - that is also kinda helpful. I'm NOT saying everyone must speak English, but perhaps at least one person per truck/crew should be able to communicate with customers on site?"
"Ned Stevens/Keltom did our gutter cleaning yesterday and did a fantastic job. They showed up on time, rang the doorbell, I couldn't answer, so they just went to work. In less than two hours they were done - the whole system front, sides, and back - emailed me the invoice, and left. They even did an inspection of the gutters and made recommendations. A1 service at a reasonable price. Very professional and very thorough. I was able to set a return schedule too, and I can make a single phone call to add services and modify the schedule. PS- they also do clothes drier vent cleaning!"
"Keltom Gutter came to our home and replaced our gutters with larger size gutters. However, after 12 months, there were some minor issues that resulted in external leaks. When we called, we learned the company was purchased by Ned Stevens. In order for them to come out and review our gutter, we needed to pay a fee, which we agreed to and they came. They supposedly put a temporary fix in place. However, they are suppose to come back to complete the fix we paid for, but then they informed us to correct something there would be a charge of $200 and they notice the installation on one side of our home wasn't done right by the company they purchased and wanted to charge $500 to correct it. When they came for the first visit to do a check and repair, all of these things were not discussed or brought to our attention. All of a sudden after visiting us, they figured they could get more out of us by implementing the fear tactic, "if we don't fix the $500 repair water can get into our home." After 12 months and no water, I didn't feel safe with them returning to our home to do anything. This can be our experience, but if you choose to work with the established company with new owners, be aware. If they come to your home, ensure they tell you everything up front. If you notice new things coming up after the fact, be cautious."
