ArtYard
ArtYard is a unique interdisciplinary contemporary art center located in Frenchtown, New Jersey. Situated at 13 Front Street, ArtYard brings provocative art, performance, and creative mischief to this small town at the river's edge. Steuben House at Historic New Bridge Landing
The Steuben House at Historic New Bridge Landing is a museum and tourist attraction located at 1209 Main Street in River Edge, New Jersey, United States. Operated by the Bergen County Historical Society, this historic site served as a battleground, fort, encampment ground, military headquarters, and intelligence-gathering post during the American Revolution. The Steuben House is the only remaining building from the 1776 Retreat through Bergen County, known as the Retreat to Victory. The goal of the Bergen County Historical Society is to construct a new world-class history museum at Historic New Bridge Landing, showcasing the collective history of New Jersey. Fundraising efforts to support the construction of the new museum are ongoing, with events and galas being held to raise funds. The society welcomes donations to help preserve and promote the history of Bergen County and the United States.
Demarest House
Demarest House is a historic museum located at 1205 Main Street in River Edge, New Jersey. Restored in 2009 with a grant from the Blauvelt-Demarest Foundation, the museum showcases the history of the Demarest family and the surrounding area. The museum is part of the Bergen County Historical Society at Historic New Bridge Landing, which includes the Westervelt-Thomas Barn restored in 2014. The Demarest House is a two-room stone dwelling that was originally mistaken for the home of David Demarest, Senior, built in 1678. The museum offers a glimpse into the life of early settlers in Bergen County and features exhibits on local history. Visitors can learn about the French Burying Ground and the old gristmill that once stood nearby. The museum is a well-preserved example of a Bergen Dutch sandstone cottage, showcasing the architecture of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
