Welcome to A Healing Sanctuary, a transformative neighborhood food garden located at 179 Broadway, Newark, New Jersey. Managed by STEAM URBAN, our park serves as a beacon of hope and growth in the heart of the community. We collaborate with green spaces, schools, and local organizations in Black and Brown areas to offer dynamic and healing programs designed to address educational disparities, uplift community members, and expand local resources. At A Healing Sanctuary, we embody an Anti-Racist, STEAM-disciplined, Healing-centered, and Culturally Responsive approach to teaching and learning. Our mission focuses on three key areas: Environmental Justice, Social Justice, and Educational Equity. We believe in empowering our youth with the knowledge and tools to combat environmental injustices, as the least privileged among us are often the most affected by climate change and land misuse.
