New Jersey Youth Challenge Academy
The New Jersey Youth Challenge Academy, located at 100 Camp Drive in Sea Girt, New Jersey, is a school that aims to provide leadership training for disengaged youth to help them become responsible and productive citizens. Governor Phil Murphy and Lt. Governor Tahesha Way are supporters of this institution. The academy offers a 22-week residential program that includes quasi-military training, academic opportunities, and physical, social, and intellectual development. Graduates receive continued support through a one-year post-residential phase with a mentor. Cadets can earn academic credits or a high school diploma during their time at the academy. The program focuses on instilling discipline and healthy routines in its participants. Many parents and graduates have praised the positive impact of the program, with one parent calling it the best decision they ever made for their child. The academy is set to welcome its 58th class in July 2024.
