The carousel was custom built for Turtle Back Zoo and is housed inside a beautiful classic carousel house with mosaic floors and stained glass windows. Built in the Queen Anne Victorian style in 1880-82, this home showcases the modern amenities of the time, including hot and cold running water, indoor bathrooms, central heating, and even early forms of refrigeration. The Glenmont Estate, as it is known, is an impressive structure with 23 rooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, and a beautiful conservatory. The estate is located in the historic Llewellyn Park, the first planned residential community in America. Visitors can explore the grounds and learn about the history of the area, as well as the life of Thomas Edison and his family.
