Arbor Lodge State Historical Park
Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, located at 2600 Arbor Avenue in Nebraska City, Nebraska, is a popular tourist attraction and park. The estate was the original home of J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day in 1872. The mansion, which started as a four-room house in 1855, has since been expanded to 52 rooms and is filled with authentic furnishings and historical artifacts. Owned by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission but managed by the Arbor Day Foundation, Arbor Lodge State Historical Park is open for self-guided tours during the spring, summer, and fall, and on weekends in the winter. The mansion also hosts special events throughout the year and is available for private events such as meetings and weddings.
