This area commemorates the historic battle between the US Army's 7th Cavalry and various Native American tribes, including the Lakotas, Cheyennes, and Arapahos. The battle, which took place on June 25 and 26 of 1876, resulted in the deaths of 263 soldiers, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer. The 4.5-mile tour road takes visitors to the Reno-Benteen entrenchment, where 350 7th Cavalry soldiers survived the battle.
