"I called the nurse advice line for help with my daughter’s health. I spoke with Nurse Christine and she refused to help me. She told me to call our primary care doctor and see if I could get an appointment. I told her I already knew that I couldn’t get a same day sick appointment because they never have one available. She told me I should call them because they would want me to call them. Sure enough I called. No appointments and nurse Christine could have answered my question. Why are these people hired and paid if they aren’t willing to help?!"

"Firstly I will say, I understand. I understand what it takes to work in a place where energy is high, morale is low, and parents are impatient! Now, that I've shown compassion, let me express my disdain! The ER staff is some of the most disrespectful, rude and condescending individuals I have ever encountered in this hospital. I took my son there at 4pm, at 9pm after experiencing and observing so much disrespect yet very little assistance we left without being seen. The ladies behind the Kiersten Bowers, and there is another one her name starts with a C (she works the overnight shift in ER) were extremely hard to work with. As I shared we were there for over 5 hours, after hour 3 I asked if I could get my hungry child food and was told if I left that I would have to start the process over. The cafeteria is maybe 10 steps from the ER waiting room. What do you mean? When I shared my son's situation, she then stated to her coworker " take him out if he's not here".... As I shared in the beginning I understand the stress of working in a fast paced environment, but I also understand that you have to treat people with dignity and respect! Maybe their misconceived privilege maybe them assume they could treat people like that, but the have the right one today! While this review is just that a review of my experience, I will also be contacting leadership!"

"After being in the emergency room for almost 5 hours at a different hospital we were sent to children’s mercy and then spent another 6 hours in the emergency department. No urgency. It took them 3 hours to wrap my babies arm so I could comfort him and as I kept repeating myself that he was hungry on top of everything we were going through no one was telling me I could feed him. I was told to wait by some nurses and then was told I “should be fine” by others but yet again 3 hours of saying something before my boy could eat. On top of all of this we were SO disrespected in the emergency department, the minute we got transferred to a room I was incredibly emotional just for the human decency I was treated with."

"I would leave negative stars if so could! Inpatient with a chronically ill child, sick with a virus on top of her underlying conditions. Timed G-Tube feedings are a must! They have nowhere to store pumped milk in the room, and take it to a milk room to bring for her feeds. It’s critical she receives the nourishment in a timely fashion and they were an HOUR and 45 MINUTES late on her feeding! Wouldn’t bring back her milk for feeding or even address the issue with us! After visiting nearly every hospital in the city with a sick child Children’s Mercy has by far been then worst. We were a direct admit case arriving via ambulance on oxygen support. Their negligence and poor care over the past 36 hours has been appalling."

"Hands down the best hospital we've been to. We were visiting for spring break when our sons appendix ruptured and had to have emergency surgery. Everything happened so fast and as parents we were nervous. The staff made us feel more at ease. The doctors and nurses were so helpful and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The child Life staff who came in to play games, ease his mind, do art with him and ask his needs were a life saver. They were such a huge help. Sounds crazy but we were in the right place at the right time when this happened."
