Confederate Memorial State Historic Site
β OpenLocated at 211 West 1st Street in Higginsville, Missouri, the Confederate Memorial State Historic Site is a peaceful park and tourist attraction. Formerly the Confederate Soldiers Home of Missouri, this historic site provided care and refuge to over 1,600 Civil War veterans and their families for nearly six decades. While not a battle site, the site's purpose was to support veterans who could no longer care for themselves after the war. Visitors can explore the restored chapel, Confederate Home cemetery, and learn about the site's significance in post-Civil War Missouri. The 135-acre site features six fishing ponds, a disc golf course, picnic areas, and a park road popular for walking and biking.
