Opening for the season on April 19, 2024, the ferry provides a scenic journey from St. Charles, Mo., to Grafton, Illinois. Passengers can enjoy the picturesque views as they cross the river, with the Illinois landing near the Grafton Lighthouse and public boat ramp, and the Missouri landing at Grafton Ferry Road just off Highway 94. With the ferry reducing travel time between St. Charles County and Grafton by approximately 30 minutes, visitors can easily explore the charming town of Grafton and its riverfront lodging options. The ferry is capable of accommodating buses and vans, and passengers are welcome to disembark from their vehicles during the crossing.
Arrow Rock Ferry Landing Site
The Arrow Rock Ferry Landing Site, located on River Road in Nelson, Missouri, is a historical institution that offers a glimpse into the past of the serene village of Arrow Rock. Visitors can explore the architecture of the historic "Boone's Lick Country" as they stroll through the streets lined with historic buildings. The site features the J. Huston Tavern, dating back to 1834, where guests can dine in the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi River. Other historic buildings, such as the Old Courthouse and George Caleb Bingham's house, offer further insight into the history of Arrow Rock. The visitor center provides exhibits and audio-visual presentations on the area's rich history. The site is part of the larger Village of Arrow Rock, which boasts quaint stores and antique shops for visitors to enjoy. The site is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays. Please note that the site may be temporarily closed for weather, stewardship activities, or maintenance.
