"I had a CMC Thumb Arthroplasty 3 months ago due to searing osteoarthritis pain in the base of my thumb and the inability to function day-to-day due to unexpectedly dropping and breaking things. I chose to have him treat it first conservatively with a cortisone injection, which reduced the swelling, but not the overall daily pain. I was warned that the injection would be very painful, but that was minimized by using topical numbing agents and talking to me calmly while doing it. The after-surgery regimen and therapy has been a bit tough, but nothing that he didn't warn me about. At least that constant pain is gone! At my 3-month appointment, he took the time to explain how my fingers function together and the best way to move forward, knowing that this is now my "new normal." I appreciate that he took the time to answer my many questions thoroughly. I also think the scar will be scarcely noticeable after a few more months. UPDATE 12-2022: A subsequent unexpected fall 3 months prior resulted in me seeking a re-examination again by Dr. Johnson. He carefully went over my new x-rays to be certain the surgical site was still intact, then explained everything thoroughly, and discussed at length what to do for the resulting nerve and tendon pain I am now experiencing. He even suggested it might not be a bad idea to get a second opinion, which I greatly respect, just to be sure he wasn't missing something. I appreciate that he didn't dismiss my new symptoms as nothing to be concerned about."

"While Dr Michael Johnson was great, the staff that tried to fit a brace on my husband’s arm were horrible. They were unable to figure out how to use the ROM brace and then sent him home with an ace bandage. 2 days later the MRI Technician asked where his brace was. It was clearly written in his charts that he had and needed a brace. They did finally find someone that was able to fit the brace. Still never got a call about the MRI results either."

"Dr. Johnson was a bit rough but when you're dealing with painful joints you should expect some pain when the Doc is checking it out. He was a very pleasant person. He gave me the most painful but most effective injection I have ever had in a joint. I had other injections in same joint relief was not as good and not as lasting."
