Moscow on the Hill

"I came here for one major reason: to finally try khachapuri (a bready boat filled with cheese). I was able to enjoy that at Moscow on the Hill, and so much more. We visited at 11am on a Sunday. We parked at a nearby park that, on a spring-like day, was full of families enjoying the playground. There is also a YMCA adjacent to the restaurant that has available parking that, during our visit, had a posted cost of $5; a sign at the entrance of the restaurant advised that guests inform them if they used the YMCA lot. We were the second people in the door that day, and the first to order. The only complaint I can make about our visit is that the service was incredibly slow, especially for an almost empty restaurant. We were never even asked if we wanted to order more drinks. There was about a 15-20 minute gap between our appetizers and the delivery of our entrees. The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere. Lots of art, lamps, and heavy curtains. The food is really the star here. Everything we had was incredible. For our appetizers, we did khachapuri and fried pelmeni. The khachapuri lived up to all expectations--this dish is a must for anyone who loves hot bread and melted cheese! The pelmeni were great, too, different than any other dumplings I've had. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He found the meat perfectly cooked and moist, and really enjoyed the fries. I had the Kamchatka salad, which had perfectly cooked flaky salmon along with greens, green beans, potatoes, and a mélange of other flavors and textures, all made even better by a fantastic dressing. I've never had a salad quite like it! Really fantastic stuff, and it's a large serving, too. The only downside to that was that I was too full to order a dessert, but that was probably just as well, as the slowness of the meal meant we needed to leave, anyway. I would absolutely come here again to try more of the food."

"We had a wonderful experience at Moscow on the Hill. It started with a friendly greeting from the hostess and continued from there. We ordered drinks, appetizers and meals and EVERYTHING was delicious!!!! We cannot wait to go back!!!!"

"Really cool restaurant with tasty food and drinks! The service was great, and I really loved the atmosphere and decor. I have not had a lot of Russian or Ukrainian food before so it was really cool to try some amazing dishes from these regions. The flavors were great and I'm really eager to try more of the pancake and dumpling dishes. There is a huge selection of different vodkas, and the cocktail I had was very delicious. I definitely will be back here to try more!"

"My partner and I went here for her birthday. We got a few entrees and some borscht. Overall the food came in rather large portions and was the perfect type of food on a cold winter day. We tried a few Russian vodka shots. The Hammer and Sickle. Very smooth."

"The food is extraordinary. My friend and my family really enjoyed the food and service they provided. Food the authentic and I personally love the grandma cabbage roll the best and my husband loves the beef strangonoff. Also the drinks( beer) and desserts are also delicious. The best decision we made is to follow waitress’s recommendation, everything she recommended are on point for us."
