"In the fall of 2022 as the cornerstone of a landscaping project, we hired Sota Scapes Landscaping to build a 3’ high retaining wall in front of our new lake home to outline an elevated patio. Our agreement called for them to compact class 5 material inside the wall to support a stamped concrete patio surface which would be poured by another contractor. We were actually happy with about 95% of the work performed, but when I shared my observation with Darin, the owner, that his crew had not compacted the material satisfactorily adjacent to the wall, he immediately began treating me like an adversary. Without even offering to look at the problem and without attempting to understand my concern, he tried to convince me that he had completed his work according to our agreement. In fact, Darin actually told me that we should have poured the concrete before the class 5 was exposed to rain. The rain, as it turned out, caused the material to begin to compact into the spaces left unfilled between the retaining wall blocks, exposing the substandard compaction that I was left with. After he declined to help me move additional class 5 to the area, I then hauled about 1.5 cubic yards of class 5 from the back of our lot to the retaining wall area in my wheel borrow and compacted it all in manually. When I offered a reasonable amount less than our original agreement to settle our account in full, he quickly greeted me with a threat to file a mechanic’s lien. In terms of priorities, it was clear to us that providing good customer service falls far behind making profit for Darin and this company. If you have another choice for landscaping service, you should strongly consider that option."

"The cabin we had rented was so bad we could not stay there. It was very musty smelling. The carpet was full of stains and full of old food; had not been vacuumed. There was no way we could put the baby down on the floor. The toilet seat was hanging on by only one bolt. While they offered a refund we were left trying to find new accommodations on our own."
