Fitzgerald Theater
The Fitzgerald Theater, located at 10 East Exchange Street in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is a historic institution with a rich history. Built in 1910 as the Sam S. Shubert Theater, it is the oldest surviving theater space in Saint Paul. Originally a memorial theater erected by entertainment-industry leaders Lee and J. J. Shubert, it later became known as the World Theater, screening foreign films in the 1930s. In 1980, Minnesota Public Radio purchased the theater and restored it in 1986 for the live radio program A Prairie Home Companion® with Garrison Keillor. The theater was renamed in 1994 in honor of author F. Scott Fitzgerald, a native of Saint Paul. Over the years, the Fitzgerald Theater has hosted Broadway musicals, vaudeville shows, film festivals, and concerts of all kinds.
