"I'm a homeowner, not a contractor and Shaw only sells to contractors. So why 5 stars? Marvin makes a storm window for older homes but doesn't really bother advertising it. I'd been to a couple places and was blown off by other dealers. I went here not knowing that they don't sell to homeowners. After the guy at the front desk told me that they couldn't sell to me he recommended a place that could, actually walked me over to a display to make sure we were talking about the same thing, and took the time to discuss the product. To be clear, I wasn't going to be able to buy from them but they gave me better customer service than the stores that would sell to me. It may not be this year or even 5 years, but when I am doing work to my home next, I'll ask my contractor to get a quote from them."
"THEY DO NOT SELL TO THE PUBLIC. Let me say that again...THEY DO NOT SELL TO THE PUBLIC. It should be in big bold letters all over their website; it isn't. They do have high quality materials on display, which is great, but they won't talk to you about the product, can't give you prices, and won't let you buy directly from them. Essentially, they are eliminating entire lines of potential business, because it is nearly impossible for those of us working on a small project to get a contractor. It's absurd."
"I was surprised to read all the very negative reviews about terrible service, with some consumers even stating they were discriminated against. We visited the Marvin window showroom this afternoon and one point I would like to clarify is that this showroom is for wholesalers and other professionals only. This was unknown to me before we went, but I did wonder why it took a while for the salesperson to approach us. They only work with your builder, architect, designer, etc. They will not quote any prices to us consumers. I hope this will clear up the impression that many people have left saying that they were ignored, not given quotes, etc. The sales associate did help us for about 10 minutes, showing us different window options among the many displays on the floor. He then left us alone and we could take photos and examine the windows as long as we wanted. He also gave us the window brochures we requested. If you have not enlisted the services of a general contractor, the best option is probably to see Marvin windows at some other location which caters to the DIY homeowner, not to builders."
"If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Personally, business seems a bit racist. Had more than qualified friends and family members who tried to work at this company. Went through the whole process of interviewing, doing the tests, etc.. Had more certifications and experience than most people there, and yet was turned down for no explanation. But if you take a visit down to the business. You would see it is mainly Caucasians. Maybe two or three employees of different races. Unfriendly as well. Personal and professional view, they seem racist. If you're looking to fill positions, and even have a banner out that says you're hiring, wouldn't you hire people who have experience and who are qualified?.. Good luck getting employees. So much for the equal opportunity act."
"I met with Alex at the State Fair and liked the new Marvin windows they had on display. I sent him an email a couple days later for a quote on the windows. He never responded. A month later a manager sends me an email asking how my experience was. I tell him what happened and he apologizes for the mix-up, but still doesn't run the quote. What kind of business is this? It feels like something fishy is going on with their sales process."
