"I am editing due to owners response. I never requested an inner tie rod, I was told that my car needed it to do the alignment. The entire steering gear rack assembly, as well as all power steering hoses and the pump were replaced within 18 months, and the parts were under warranty. I provided the part they recommended, and paid the installation fee. The tie rod was not loose holding the rod by the socket end it did not drop as it would if the joint was worn. What they felt was acceptable play in the internal steering gear, not the tie rod itself, (bad diagnosis). They only found the left front bellows boot damaged and never mentioned the right side, again replaced at my expense. They performed the repairs, "as recommended". After a few days I discovered a leak coming from the rear driver side of the vehicle. It was a brake fluid leak, and I found a 4 month old wheel cylinder suddenly had a leak. I replaced myself, and I found that the internal piston seal was blown out and a brake shoe tension spring was loose inside the drum. That would only happen if the tire was removed and the brake drum shifted when the brakes were applied. After 3 weeks the noise in the front end was still horrible over bumps, and finally the left front strut actually pulled through the mounting plate it was attached to, this was damage that should have been noticed while the alignment inspection was performed, or at least when being test driven. Again while repairing the issue myself I discovered the right front tie rod bellows boot twisted and cracked from an improperly performed alignment technique that only a novice would make, and damaged the boot that was not previously replaced. When I called, all I wanted was the alignment to be redone, and all I got in return was you replaced the strut, no free alignment. Then I questioned the other boot being twisted and torn, and all I got was we will look and see, just drop it off. The only explanations I can come up with is that the mechanic who performed the service's was completely inept, big surprise, but when Mike told me the owner himself did the work, I was floored! I am a veteran from the first gulf war, and have been a master certified mechanic for 25 years, been working on cars, and in shops in Michigan almost my whole life, including as a master Chrysler tech with specializations in over 4 areas of auto repair through Chrysler academy and extensive dealership experience. I gave them a chance to fix it and they could not even handle that right, so customer service is not a strong suit for them either. Take it from a true gearhead that this place is only good at pulling the wool over your eyes!"

"Had some serious steering issues with my recently purchased 53 Chevy with a rack and pinion steering conversion. Contacted several recommended local Flint area alignment / suspension shops but they didn't work on modified setups. Knew of Slims from years ago when I lived in Fraser or Clinton Twp area and contacted them and drove down to review my issues with Dave who still works on hot rods and modified setups. Dropped my car off a week later and picked it up last Monday. Dave kept me informed along the way and offered several options of how to correct the issues without breaking the bank. The car drives straight and true and is a pleasure to drive now versus previously when it was a struggle to hang on to the car over bumps and dips in the road especially anything over 50 mph.
