Little Manistee Weir
The Little Manistee Weir, located at 4664 Old Stronach Road in Manistee, Michigan, is a vital institution for the sport fishing industry in the Great Lakes region. As the only steelhead egg-take operation in Michigan and the primary facility for Chinook salmon egg-taking in the state, the weir plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy fish populations. Visitors can witness the annual steelhead egg-take process each spring, as well as the harvesting of over 1,000 Chinook salmon in the fall.
