Named in honor of Ronald Boeve '53, a dedicated assistant baseball coach, and his wife Sonja (Sunny), the stadium offers a top-notch experience for fans and players alike. Originally established as Athletic Park, the facility was used for local baseball games and was the home field for Holland's team, the Independents. In the mid-1920s, the park was briefly known as Water Works Park before being renamed Riverview Park. In 1937, lights were installed at the park, allowing for the first lighted baseball game between the Holland Flying Dutchmen and Zeeland Chicks. The lights also enabled Hope College to host evening football games and Holland High School to use the facility for their home football games starting in 1940.
