Established in the late 1860s, the Domiciliary Care Program is the oldest health care program within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Domiciliary is now integrated with the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment Programs (MH RRTPs), offering state-of-the-art residential rehabilitation and treatment services for Veterans with multiple and severe medical conditions, mental illness, addiction, or psychosocial deficits. The program focuses on rehabilitation, recovery, health maintenance, improved quality of life, and community integration, tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
