"This place is probably great if you are living alone and over 60 years old. What a terrible place to live for myself, wife, two toddlers and dog. Our elderly downstairs neighbor came knocking on our door 2 days after we moved in saying her walls were shaking and pictures were falling, her tv was shaking, and she couldn't sleep with all our stomping and noise. This escalated to the point that she followed in her car my wife and kids while while they were walking the dog, yelling and harassing her about calling CPS and getting our dog taken away as well. We had to go to the police since apparently this apartment complex just tolerates harassment. The downstairs neighbor finally moved out and we got another grumpy neighbor that would bang on the ceiling and scream at us from downstairs. This would happen at normal noise hours like 4pm, 5pm, etc. We called the office many times about this and they told us not to worry about it. Days later, we received a formal letter saying if we don't fix our noise issue, they wouldn't renew our lease. After calling them about the letter, they kept telling us not to worry and it was just "procedure". We felt like we weren't allowed to live normal lives in this place. DO NOT move here if you plan on walking, talking, watching TV, having a friend or two over, have a dog that makes any noise at all, have kids, or make any noise at all, because the lease agreement literally says "NO NOISE". There were also instances where they would not fix things in the apartment that had broken because it was so old that they can't get the parts for it anymore, and we were also told that they wouldn't do it because they plan on renovating the space after we leave. We have lived in apartments in much less well-off cities like Bloomfield, such as Pontiac MI and several in New Orleans LA, and none of them have ever taken any of our security deposit or treated my family with such a hands off approach like Glens of Bloomfield did. I didn't receive our list of damages until after the legal 30 days that management has in the state of Michigan, and I had to ask them for it! They said "oh it says here it was sent 15 days after your move out date". I didn't see it until 35 days after that date, yet they conveniently emailed it to me when I asked them for it. I also had to tell them after the fact to reactivate the account I was still receiving bills from, so I could pay the dang thing! 2018-2019 in the Glens was easily the worst experience, and one of the most stressful years of my family's life, and it's all thanks to Glens of Bloomfield and Hartman & Tyner.
