"No hiking trails, but saw fisherman and men with their sons fishing. It was cool. Not so clean around the area, but overall nice place for pics."
"We passed through during a kayak trip from Dixboro Dam to Ford Lake. The sign is very iconic and neat to see along the river. However, the portage here is a bit tricky. You have to drop the kayak down from a crumbling concrete deck and then hop down. It’s right where the water is rushing out from the dam, so it’s a bit chaotic. Also, there were a bunch of inebriated fishermen crowded on the deck. They made room for us, but just an fyi that there may be a lot of tackle boxes and fishing gear lying around"
"This place is so cool. You have the natural beauty and the really cool abandoned building. Last time I was there, fish were jumping out of the water"
"The Huron River is very beautiful and here in Ypsilanti they have the Peninsular Park. This place is very relaxing and the sounds of the dam is so soothing and peaceful. They have picnic tables and a charcoal grill where you can relax and cook a few burgers or whatever you prefer. You can fish or go to the other side where the old Paper Mill and even a Power Station this Dam was built in the early 1900’s. It’s also a Gravity Dam that’s Decommissioned! This is very historic and well worth the trip. I hope they never remove this dam but please proceed with caution and always use safety measures when hanging out here so your visit is as safe and fun as possible. The Superior Dam is a few miles away! Michigan truly has a ton to offer when it comes to Rivers as their water is cleaner then Ohio’s! In 2019 they decided they would remove the dam which really sucks but we can still enjoy it for a bit longer!"
"Nice and quiet park on the river with a portion of the old Peninsular Paper Co. and sign still standing from 1867. Relaxing waterfall sounds from water spilling over the small dam directly in front of you."
