Harbor Springs Area Historical Society
β OpenThe Harbor Springs Area Historical Society, located at 349 East Main Street in Harbor Springs, Michigan, is a must-visit museum and tourist attraction for history enthusiasts. The institution is currently running a comprehensive fundraising campaign called "Bringing History to Life", which aims to create a historical corridor at the eastern approach to Main Street. This includes opening a new museum of innovation in the historic 1892 Shay House, installing interactive exhibits in the 1886 former City Hall building, and building a preservation and operating endowment for the organization's long-term health. Established thirty-four years ago by a group of local residents, the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society has been dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the area. The society recently showcased the late photographer Virgil D. Haynes' collection of nostalgic Harbor Springs images at the Harbor Springs History Museum.
