Lubbers Hall
Lubbers Hall, located at 126 East 10th Street in Holland, Michigan, is a historic building on the campus of Hope College. Constructed in 1942, the charming Dutch-influenced architecture of Lubbers Hall is home to the departments of English, history, political science, philosophy, and religion. The building is named in honor of Dr. Irwin J. Lubbers, who served as Hope's seventh president from 1945-1963. Originally purposed as the college's science center and housing the theatre program, Lubbers Hall underwent a major renovation in 2006. The $3 million project added 28 more offices, bringing the total to over 60, and included upgrades such as air conditioning, a new fire system, and new windows. The building, totaling about 25,000 square feet with three main floors and six classrooms, now serves as a hub for the humanities and social science programs at Hope College.
