Charlevoix South Pier Lighthouse
β OpenThe Charlevoix South Pier Lighthouse is a historic institution located at 2 Grant Street in Charlevoix, Michigan. Established in 1914, the lighthouse has been guiding ships safely into Lake Charlevoix for over a century. The current tower was first lit in 1948 and is still operational today. The lighthouse is constructed on a wooden pier and has a distinctive skeletal tower shape, painted white with a black lantern. The original fifth order Fresnel lens is still in place, providing a beacon of light for maritime navigation. The institution is a significant landmark in Charlevoix County and is maintained by dedicated volunteers, such as Melissa Buckler from the U.S. Lighthouse Society's Chesapeake Chapter. Visit the Charlevoix South Pier Lighthouse to learn about its rich history and importance in guiding ships on Lake Michigan.
