Chemical Sciences and Engineering Building
● OpenThe Chemical Sciences and Engineering Building, also known as Chem Sci, is located at 1400 Townsend Drive in Houghton, Michigan, United States. This building houses the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, as well as the Unit Operations Lab and Simulated Process Control Center on the first floor. What sets this institution apart is its ability to run the unit operations lab remotely, providing students with a unique learning experience. The Chemistry Learning Center is also situated within this building, offering additional resources for students. The computer lab on the first floor is utilized by students in the College of Business, thanks to sponsorship from Kimberly-Clark. A time capsule was placed in the wall of the building in 1969, set to be opened in 2050. Notably, Chemistry alumnus Melvin Calvin, class of 1931, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1961.
