The Wabanaki Confederacy, also known as The People of the Dawnland, includes the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, and Abenaki Nations, indigenous to areas now known as Maine, Vermont, northwestern Massachusetts, and parts of Canada.
