Welcome to the Cambridge Budget Department, a pivotal local government office located at 795 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139. As an integral part of the city's administration, we are committed to fostering financial transparency and accountability within our community. Our office is tasked with preparing the annual operating and capital budgets, which are submitted to the City Council by the City Manager in accordance with Chapter 44 of the Massachusetts General Laws. Our dedicated team diligently monitors and analyzes fiscal activities to ensure a fiscally sound budget for the upcoming year. We also prepare official statements for bond sales, calculate tax rates, conduct grant reconciliations, and analyze Community Preservation Act (CPA) projects. Our efforts extend to maintaining a computerized benchmark system and preparing financial statements, which form the foundation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
