"I just completed successful rehab on my right knee replacement at Winchester Hospital Rehab services at Cummings Park. I want to share highlights of my experience. I was assessed by a physical therapist (PT) at the beginning of my rehab and worked with that PT throughout the course of my treatment. This is a model of care that is not found at all rehab facilities. As a result of this one-on-one care throughout my treatment, my PT was able to modify the exercises to meet my specific needs. I highlight this because in some other rehabs, the PT does the initial treatment and then the physical assistant (PTA) carries out the care plan with periodic visits to the patient. IF the PTA or patient feels a need for change, this change must then go through the PT which can take time. By working with my PT directly for my entire rehab, I was able to share how the exercises were affecting me and if there was more work needed in certain areas. He would then immediately modify my exercises. I think working directly with the PT made my progress go much faster! Also, my PT, Mike Petty, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, attentive, listened to my concerns and made modifications as needed. In addition, our discussions during treatment were always interesting and made the time go by faster.
