Riverwalk Extension
Riverwalk Extension in Ipswich, Massachusetts, United States is a beautiful park with plenty of seating and a perfect view of the historic 1764 Choate Bridge. The park was recently opened with funds donated by First Ipswich Bank and features a permeable rubber walkway that allows rainwater to soak back into the ground. The extension was made possible by two meeting allocations totaling $150,000 and includes native birch trees, although some were vandalized by beavers. The park will be extended in the future, with plans already in place for further development. The Rotary Club dedicated a bench to the late Ben Collins, a nature lover and longtime member, in a touching tribute. Former selectman Charles Wayne was credited with bringing the vision of the Riverwalk to Ipswich, inspired by a visit to San Antonio, Texas. The project was praised for its vision, resourcefulness, perseverance, and partnership, making it a beloved addition to the town.
