Wareham Historical Society
● OpenThe Wareham Historical Society, located at 495 Main Street in Wareham, Massachusetts, was chartered in 1957 with the mission of promoting interest in and preserving the history of Wareham. The Society owns and maintains five properties, including the Old Methodist Meeting House where monthly meetings are held. The Fearing Tavern and Captain John Kendrick Maritime Museum are also open for tours during specific months. Unfortunately, the Society does not have resources for genealogy or property searches. Wareham, known as the "Gateway to Cape Cod," has a rich history dating back to its incorporation in 1739. With 54 miles of coastline along Buzzards Bay and various rivers, lakes, and ponds, Wareham offers a unique glimpse into the past and present of southeastern Massachusetts.
