About the Business
Hemenway Playground is a vibrant park located at 540 Adams Street in Boston, Massachusetts. As part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, we strive to create and maintain clean, green, safe, and accessible open spaces throughout the city. Our department is responsible for a wide range of outdoor areas, including 217 City parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields, as well as historic cemeteries, urban wilds, and thousands of trees.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings are currently being held online. We work closely with Mayor Michelle Wu to ensure that popular attractions such as the Boston Swan Boats at the Boston Public Garden continue to operate for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
The 1,100-acre chain of nine parks managed by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department is connected by parkways and waterways, providing a seamless outdoor experience for all. In addition, we oversee three active cemeteries and 16 burying grounds in Boston, preserving the city's history and heritage.
If you are interested in removing a healthy tree in Boston, please note that a public hearing is required. We are committed to maintaining the beauty and health of our urban environment, and we welcome public input and participation in our decision-making processes.
