The 1762 Elihu Akin House is the organization's most important project and serves as the centerpiece of their mission. This pre-Georgian cape style structure, older than the Declaration of Independence, is being transformed into a Cultural Heritage Center and Educational Facility. The property will be a "Study House" and working classroom, offering hands-on learning and educational programming to the public. The Elihu Akin House Cultural Heritage Center will be a destination for visitors and serve as a tourist information center, filling a need in Dartmouth that is currently not being met. The late Anne W. "Pete" Baker, a well-known architectural consultant, referred to the house as "The little house with a big story to tell."
