"Alden’s Online Retailer “The Shoe Mart” has had me return my shoes and they will not issue my refund. Every time I call they must look into it and now you can read the full story below. I hope that Alden will step up and resolve this or I will continue building my Allen Edmonds collection and never buy a pair from Alden again. They should strip their products from this horrible retailer. Google reviews on other websites and see that I am far from being alone in my experience. The Shoe Mary took forever to get me a return label (at least 4 phone calls) and when returned I had to call at least 10 times to ask why I hadn’t received my store credit. The worthless individual with the thick foreign accent, answering the phones, can do nothing to help. Now I have to email a manager. I am told there is no way to speak to someone, who speaks clear English, over the phone. All I wanted to do was exchange them for a different size via store credit. You would swear to God that I was asking them to put a rocket on the moon. Now I’m waiting on an email back from the “manager” (probably the same useless guy I’ve spoken to this week). I now want my money back and I will buy from a professional business. Stay far away from this utterly incompetent and mind-bogglingly mismanaged business!!!"

"Sent in a pair of Tassle Loafers for recrafting, and all they did was resole them with a polish. I could have had that done locally for MUCH less than the $179 they charge. They did NOT repair a small split in the toe of one shoe, which makes the work worthless. I sent them back, saying I was disappointed, and was called by the factory and told they couldn't repair that. How can the factory, who makes these shoes from scratch, not be able to repair any damage? The shoes are worthless with that crack, and I'll be throwing them out. That's the last pair of Aldens I'll ever buy. I can get the exact same shoe from Johnston & Murphy or Allen Edmonds (who've done 2 recraftings for me with fantastic results!). Don't waste your money on Alden - for what they charge, you can get 2 pairs of better shoes from a better company like the 2 I mentioned (Johnston & Murphy or Allen Edmonds)."
