Dr. Camps Pediatric Dental Center

"UPDATE: I was contacted by Julie and told that the bill would be removed. Thank you! My review is in response to a billing error. My daughter received service in 2020 during the pandemic. It was at the appointment that I discovered that our previous dentist had charged out the same service that Dr. Camps was attempting to bill our insurance company for. The previous dentist had never performed the service. I was given a form to sign and told by the receptionist that a grievance could be filled with the insurance company. I had no problem signing the form as I was made assure that we could easily prove by xray that the previous dentist had not performed the work. Fast forward two years. I received a bill stating that if I did not pay the bill it would be going to collections. There was absolutely no communication from Dr. Camps office between 2020 and the end of 2022 about this bill. As a matter of fact my daughters had cleanings and other procedures since the 2020 procedure. When I asked why I wasn't made aware of the balance I was told that because of the pandemic billing balances had been put on hold. The problem with that is now my insurance absolutely will not cover it because we're now outside of the window allotted. I can't even begin to write about the multiple emails I've sent to Dr. Camps office and phone calls that I've made simply trying to get updates regarding the bill. Every reply was we're waiting to receive payment from the insurance company. This led me to believe it would be covered. On two occasions I've had the receptionist be rude over the phone as if this was my fault. Up until this point I've only had great things to say about Dr. Camps office. It appears that when it comes to billing disputes you're introduced to a not so friendly and professional side of this company. I am now left to figure how to come up with the money to cover a bill that could have easily been covered by my insurance had I been made aware YEARS ago."

"Oh boy. I'll start on a good note. Everyone there is super friendly. As expected, my 1 year old screamed during her visit. That's not the 1 star. The 1 star begins in May 2023 when my insurance denied the claim. Preventative care should be covered but these guys filed the wrong code. Twice. The code was for children over 3 years old. The third person filed the correct code. Confusion ensues. I still owe money 5 months later but I'm ready to pay and be done. Enter fourth person. 'Let me resubmit by mail because you shouldn't have to pay'. How kind. More confusion on the part of my insurance. Ok so your daughter saw the same dentist two months in a row? New submission has the wrong date. I inform 4th person who said she would 'take care of it' but also did not seem to believe me. My daughter has her second visit at a different practice. Insurance believes it is her third and won't pay because of 4th person's false claim. Now I'm getting the Inspector General involved because these people who handle administration at Dr Camps are the most incompetent humans I've ever dealt with. Super nice. But so incompetent. I'm really overwhelmed that this has to continue but if this place gets shut down it will be for the betterment of society. My new dental office is great though. Edit: An insurance representative and a very competent person at Dr Camps were able to speak to figure out the insanity that had ensued. When everything was learned, it really was a combination of a weird policy, human and machine error, and miscommunication. My dramatic switch from 1 to 5 stars is for those reasons. As I said before, everyone was really nice and did their best to help. They all, in spite of the confusion, remained very professional and helpful."

From the moment we walked in, I was genuinely impressed by the professionalism and warmth exhibited by the entire staff. "The only reason this wasn't a five-star review is because the emergency doctor on call returned my "urgent" call 3-4 days later. The best thing about this office is Jessica G, Lauren P, and Juan B!! "I’ve brought my son here for almost 11 years. The staff are always warm, welcoming, and professional. We’ve never had an unpleasant experience. I’ve also always appreciated how efficient they are. When you enter, there’s typically a crowd, but the wait time is still fairly minimal. One thing I especially appreciate is how clean they keep their office post-pandemic. Each time we visit, there’s seldom a time when chairs aren’t being wiped down at the very least. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Camps for all of your pediatric dentistry needs."
