Pemberton Hall

Built in 1741 by Isaac and Anne Handy, this gambrel-roofed brick structure has been fully restored to its original appearance based on extensive research. The attached 1786 kitchen was also reconstructed on its original foundation, and the furnishings are based on three eighteenth-century probate inventories. The Pemberton Hall Foundation, Inc. was formed to restore and interpret this important historical site when it became derelict. The Hall and two acres of land are owned and maintained by the Foundation, surrounded by the 262-acre Pemberton Historical Park. The plantation was originally developed by Isaac Handy in the mid-seventeenth century, offering advantages such as fertile soil for crops, streams for mills, and coves for shipping goods.
