The park was established in 1980 when a group of generous individuals signed over land to the City of Westminster, which eventually became King Park. Over the years, residents in the community have advocated for improvements to the park, including playgrounds and sports areas, to meet the recreational needs of the community. Thanks to funding from Project Open Space, the City of Westminster, Carroll County, and a generous donation from Robin Ford Builders, the ADA compliant play structure was made possible.
